Check out the story of Another Bronx Tale:

The story of the Patterson Projects in the South Bronx is told by the people who lived there over seven decades. The filmmakers made the conscious choice not to use “experts” or scholars to tell this story. Instead, we chose to invite the residents themselves to make analysis of their own life experience and tell their story, for better or worse.

The authentic look of the overall documentary accounts for shooting over a period of 15 years on both older video cameras as well as newer higher definition digital cameras incorporating archival footage which underscore the voice of the residents without overshadowing their story. In the 1940s and 1950s all races lived and learned together in harmony in the Patterson projects”.

Seven decades later in 2018 it was the sight of the biggest gang takedown in the history of the Bronx. The people who lived it tell the story of what has happened in one project over seven decades, mirroring the stories in all 341 NYCHA housing projects throughout New York City, not unlike housing developments throughout the nation. “Lack of funding, neglect, drugs, despair all stem from the inequity of resources in this society.” Many great people have come out of the Patterson including NBA legend Nate ‘Tiny’ Archibald.
