MaMa Ria. Imitators.

Have you ever experienced a Doctor you go in to see and you’re already not feeling good, but when he or she walks in,  there is no eye contact. They are looking at your records while you’re explaining what is going on with you, only to have them cut you off in the explaining process to probe you and give you what they think is going on and write you some prescriptions. Abruptly ending the visit with telling you to make a follow up appt with the nurse.

What has happened? This is your life! At one point in the Doctor’s life there was passion and a drive to help people. To make a difference in their lives and walk them through difficult times with love. They have access to you when you are in a vulnerable position. They have the power to look into your eyes while listening with love and that alone can make a difference. Instead of  making someone feel like a process and…… NEXT.

That is in the natural life…..Imagine the same treatment with your spiritual life when you walk into a church to be seen by the Pastor about whatever you may be struggling with and need help. To not be looked in the eyes and met with love but to be looked at in judgement before you can even open your mouth. When you’re done, to be given what sounds like a standard response, a personal opinion and handed a couple of scriptures. Escorted out the door with the line of “I’ll be praying for you and make sure you see sister so and so to make your next appt.” Let’s not forget to top things off when you show up the following Sunday and you and your personal business IS the sermon. Your name is just not said…out loud anyway.

Jesus went out of His way with LOVE to meet the needs of the people. He spoke truth even in correction that changed people’s lives. They were drawn to Him as He kept in constant communion with our Father in heaven. He spent three years teaching the disciples being the example and when it was time they went forth imitating our Lord. Don’t get so caught up in ministry that you lay your relationship with the Lord down and find yourself going forth in your own strength, selfishness and opinions. Follow the perfect example…….

Ephesians 5:1-2 (NASB)      Be Imitators of God

5 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; 2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved]you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.
